ABOUT US

The ABODE Guide to Surviving a Snowstorm

Bring on the snow (but please no freezing rain)! Hopefully the grocery shopping is done, and you are ready to hunker down and get cozy. If you aren’t, no worries…Abode has you covered. We are here to share our fav LO spots, some cute, cozy gear and a tip or two.

GROCERY SHOPPING

Both Mandy and I are New Seasons girls. You can catch Mandy at the Mountain Park location, meanwhile I frequent the new Palisades location. Some of our fav items: prechopped kale salad, Nouriche broth and anything from the meat counter. You should also grab the ingredients for this salad. I half the oil and salt in the salad and sub kale for the arugula. You can also sub brown rice for the farro if GF. This salad holds up so well and could come in a pinch if we lose power during the snowstorm.

LIBATIONS

Let’s be honest, there is nothing more relaxing than a glass of wine or a cup of tea while watching the snow fall. For wine, we love Wizers…they always have the most amazing recommendations and a great selection of French and local wines. If you are a tea lover like us or are in the midst of dry January, our girl Mahsa has you covered with her incredible Chai tea.

CLOTHES

From sweats to outdoor gear, our goal is to be cozy/cute with an emphasis on cozy. My fav sweatsuit is definitely an investment, but I literally wear it ALL the time (you can ask my hubby). I love to snowboard and my favorite outdoor apparel company is Holden Outerwear. I’ve been wearing their gear for years, but by far the items that gets the most use are these down pants and beanie. Ganni boots are a must have and luckily they come in a rubber version.

RESTAURANT

We frequent nearly all the downtown LO restaurants on rotation, but I want to highlight Beso. Besides the fact that it’s quaint, has amazing food, fun wine tastings on Friday, but it’s also a small, female owned business which we are all about! It’s walking distance from my house and I’m imagining a snowy hike in on Monday to get out of the house- who wants to join?!

MOVE YOUR BODY

Movement is super important to us and there is nothing that feels better on a cold day than some hot yoga. We are regulars at YogaSix in LO. I already have my Sunday Power Yoga class with Mauro booked. Your first class is free so come sweat it out with us!

We hope you and yours are cozy and have the best weekend ever!
